Moroccan supporters of the Palestinian resistance, including civilians, politicians, activists, and unionists, woke up to the shocking news of the "martyrdom" of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas." Haniyeh was killed by a missile that struck his residence in Tehran, where he was attending the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian. This incident has sparked significant anger among Moroccans on social media.
Haniyeh, who visited Morocco in June 2021, was highly regarded by many Moroccans who considered him a friend of their country, its king, and its people. His assassination, described by Doha, where he had been residing, as a "heinous crime," has been seen by commentators as another nail in the coffin of the Israeli entity, whose image has been severely tarnished since October 7 (the Al-Aqsa Flood operation).
"A Man Who Loved Morocco"
Oussama Rmal, President of the Movement for Unity and Reform (MUR), described the killing of Ismail Haniyeh as "barbaric," noting that Haniyeh "was a man who loved Morocco and had good relations with the MUR, which firmly believes in the right of Palestinians to their land without any room for negotiation."
Rmal added in his statement to Hespress that the "cowardly" assassination is part of a "long series of targeting the man's family over the past months, during which he lost several family members. The treacherous Zionist entity managed to join him with these martyrs. We ask God Almighty to write his name in the highest ranks and to reunite him with his family and children in paradise."
Rmal continued, "This act by the Zionists has one clear interpretation: Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to drag the region into a full-scale war," explaining that "he wants to prolong his stay at the head of the Zionist government. But on the other hand, we remember that before the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, he was wandering around with a map that included parts of Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt, signaling to the world that the time has come for Israel to become the state they envision, known as 'Greater Israel' according to their conception."
Rmal further stated, "The United States claims that it does not want the war to expand; however, it is clear that there is a great effort to involve Iran in this conflict, imagining that this war will draw in regional countries, enabling Israel to achieve its goals and establish the 'Greater Israel' it seeks."
He concluded by noting that "Netanyahu is playing a war of all against all, with nothing left to lose. He is internationally condemned, judged by the International Court of Justice, and shunned by the entire world. Therefore, he bets on plunging the Middle East into a broader conflict to ensure his survival and pave the way for establishing the 'Greater Israel' as he envisions it."
"Terrorism Without Borders"
Jamal Baraj, Secretary-General of the Labor Democratic Path Party, stated that "this assassination represents a face of borderless terrorism that the Zionist colonial entity excels in," considering that "the assassination of Haniyeh in such a treacherous manner will certainly not pass easily; the resistance will respond harshly, and so will Iran, on whose territory he was killed."
Baraj added in his statement to Hespress that "this recklessness reflects that Israel does not wish well for the Middle East and wants to see a more comprehensive war involving other parties, as the Hebrew state feels protected by the West that implanted it."
The Secretary-General emphasized that "this assassination will deepen the Palestinian people's resistance, as it is a reaction to the humiliating defeat Israel suffered during the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, which was a severe blow to the Hebrew entity." He pointed out that "after being confident in its ability to easily defeat the armies of some Arab countries, today, despite 10 months having passed, it has not yet managed to eliminate the Palestinian resistance, which continues to inflict losses on the enemy at all levels: military, logistical, economic, and especially political, as it has become more isolated."
He continued, "The Zionist entity has been strategically defeated, and the flood marked the beginning of the collapse of the Zionist project as an imperialist, colonial, and racist project within the occupied Palestinian territories and the Middle East region, with its fate being extinction because colonialism cannot last forever." He clarified that "this terrorist assassination will have repercussions, and Iran will not allow it, which requires the eradication of this entity from the region as it cannot survive except through terrorism and stirring up wars and regional conflicts."
"The Persistence of Resistance"
Fathallah Arsalane, Deputy Secretary-General of the Justice and Charity Group and its official spokesman, said that "this brutal assassination confirms the barbaric nature of the Zionist entity, which does not respect diplomatic norms and traditions of any kind." He added, "This crime, committed in front of the world, we condemn in the strongest terms. We know that the Palestinian resistance has faced similar incidents and remained steadfast, having had first-generation martyrs, including Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and others."
Arsalane told Hespress that "the loss of these leaders has only increased the Palestinian people and the resistance's resilience and strength. Their blood gave birth to new generations of martyrs who continue to write this saga that we all live through, awakening the world's people and exposing the criminal nature of this entity and its actions against children, women, and the elderly."
The leader of the Justice and Charity Group noted that "this crime shows that the occupation is in a deadlock after 10 months of destruction in Gaza, trying to destroy people's support for the resistance and failing in that." He added that "the voices rising and increasing from the world's people and within Israel itself reveal that the Israeli occupation has reached a dead end, and what happened now is an attempt to mix things up and escape forward."
Arsalane concluded by saying, "The Palestinian people have nothing left to lose and no choice but to resist, and victory requires patience; God willing, victory will come soon." He noted that "Israel is destroying itself by acting as if it is in a jungle, doing what it wants and trampling on everything."
The official spokesman of the Justice and Charity Group added, "This will create serious repercussions that cannot be predicted, both in terms of reactions from leaders and the world's people, not just Arab and Islamic peoples, towards this behavior and this savage conduct."
